Vowel Digraphs Worksheets and Teaching Resources
Unit 2: Digraphs AW, EW, OW (cow), OW (grow), OU, and OO
Vowel digraphs are combination of vowels that combine to make a single vowel sound like the AW in claw, the EW in news, the OW in snow, the OU in cloud, and the OO in book.
I usually teach vowel digraphs unit 2 after teaching long vowel digraphs unit 1 or r-controlled vowels, but it is not essential to follow this order.
Vowel Digraph Spelling Worksheets 2: These spelling sheets contain words with the vowel digraphs. I generally introduce two or three new words every day to highlight or reinforce a particular pattern.
Vowel Digraph Card Games 2: These cards can be used to play memory and fish while at the same time reinforcing vowel digraph patterns. The words are mostly taken from the spelling sheets above.
Vowel Digraph Bingo 2: A bingo game that helps students decode words with the vowel digraphs. There are no pictures in this game as the emphasis is on decoding skills.
Vowel Digraph Say and Spell It Game 2: A fun game for reviewing vowel digraph words as well as the word skills of rhymes with and contains.
