Dialogue: Closing Up

A: Veronica, do you have a minute?

B: Sure. Just let me get rid of these dishes. There. Now, what did you want to talk to me about?

A: Tonight is your first time closing, right?

B: Yes.

A: I just want to go over what needs to be done and answer any questions you might have.

B: Okay. Thanks.

A: All right, you usually close in this order: tables, floor, trash, lights, alarm, and lock.

B; Tables, floor, trash, lights, alarm, lock. Got it.

A: Good. So when you do the tables. You have to wipe and sanitize all surfaces. You do the same for the chairs as well.

B: What should I use to wipe the tables down?

A: There is an all-purpose cleaner under the sink. It’s in a green bottle. And after you take the trash out, make sure the back door is locked.

B: Take out the trash and lock the back door. Got it.

A: When you’re done that, turn off the lights and leave by the front door, but don’t forget to turn on the security system. Once you turn on the security system, you’ll have 1 minute to leave the building before the alarm goes off.

B: Do you think you could show me how to do that? I’ve never done that before.

A: Sure. Follow me. Let’s do that right now.
