Dialogue: Expressing a Safety Concern
A: Hey, Mathew. Do you have a minute?
B: Sure. What’s up?
A: I’m concerned about the placement of this new equipment.
B: Is there a problem?
A: Not with the equipment itself, but with the way it’s been installed. It’s a bit of a tripping hazard.
B: Why do you say that?
A: It really sticks out here and it’s hard to see, especially when you turn the corner and walk past it.
B: It seems fine to me. I guess we could put up a sign saying, “Watch your step!”
A: I don’t know if that’s good enough. A lot people walk through here and two people have already tripped on it.
B: Was anybody injured?
A: Jane from marketing sprained her ankle. She had to be taken to the doctor’s.
B: Okay. That does sound serious. I will make sure it’s moved ASAP. In the meantime, let’s put up a warning sign and put some high-vis tape on the part that sticks out.
