Dialogue:
I Should Have Warned You
Erin: Ack!
Dad: What happened?
Erin: I just turned the microwave on and the power blew.
Dad: Oops! I was making rice: if you turn the microwave on when the rice cooker is plugged in, it will trip the circuit breaker.
Erin: Oh, okay… Oh, no!
Dad: What’s wrong?
Erin: My homework. I was in the middle of an essay.
Dad: Did you save it?
Erin: Not yet… And now I’ve lost all my work. Why didn’t you tell me about the microwave?
Dad: I guess I should have warned you about the microwave, but you should have saved your work. Everybody knows you have to save your work from time to time. You can’t blame me for that.
Erin: I guess. It looks like I’ll have to start all over again.
Dad: Maybe not. The software will probably be able to recover some of your work.
Erin: I hope so.
