Echinoderms are marine animals that live on the seafloor. Starfish, sea cucumbers, brittle stars, sand dollars, sea lilies, and feather stars are all echinoderms. Echinoderms are very special in the animal world because they have five-sided radial symmetry. That means they are circular with five sides. Most animals have only two sides, or bilateral symmetry. Echinoderms means spiny skin and they are called 'Spiny skins' because many echinoderms have spines like sea urchins. Some echinoderms also have the ability of regeneration. Regenerate mean to 'grow again.' If a starfish loses an arm it can grow another one.
