These flashcards contain vocabulary related to the season of summer especially the themes of escaping the heat, cooling off, summer foods, and spending time in the sun. Some terms covered are:

A man resting in the shade
A woman wearing a bikini
A woman with a sunburn
Some kids selling lemonade
A boy spitting out watermelon seeds
Some kids making a sandacastle
A woman escaping the heat

Print two copies of the cards and paste on posterboard to make a deck of cards to play Go Fish, review the vocabulary, or play Memory.

Go Fish:
Students each get 2 or 3 cards dealt to them. Going clockwise students try to match up their cards by asking other students if they have a matching card. Interactions are as follows:

Student A: Do you have a man relaxing at the beach?
Student B: Yes, I do. (Student B gives card to student A and student A gets a point).

or

Student A: Do you have some kids making a sandcastle?
Student B: No, I don't. (Student A takes a card from the deck).
