Lanternfish Phonics
The Lanternfish phonics resource section has greatly expanded. Click on the category or resource type below to find printable phonics worksheets and teaching activities. Lanternfish phonics generally follows a synthetic phonics progression with an emphasis on phoneme-grapheme correspondences (as opposed to onset-rime phonics). One order that these unit can be taught is as follows: initial consonants --> final cononsants --> CVC words --> Consonant Digraphs (the words in this unit follow a CVC pattern) --> Long Vowel Bossy E --> Vowel Digraphs --> Consonant Blends. However, other orders are certainly possible. There are other resources listed here as well that emphasize sight words, decoding skills, and early reading skills.
