Purpose and Audience:
The purpose of these materials is to give adult students practice asking friends to get together for dinner, drinks or coffee. Students also suggest and describe restaurants, pubs, and cafes to other students.
Class Set-up and Activity:
This is a simple role-play. The teacher first asks for a definition of a restaurant, cafe, pub, or bar. The teacher should describe a place to go for coffee, dinner, or drinks. The students then fill out the details for 4 places that they want to recommend with their friends (see page 2 of the activity sheet).
The teacher then demonstrates how to do the role-play with one student. Students then walk around and make plans to get together with each other.
