Threats and Promises and Reported Speech

Match #4:

As well as giving information about the way something was said (yelled, whispered etc.) we can also categorize what was said according to whether it was a threat a promise, an agreement, or a refusal. We often use an infinitive to accomplish this: He refused to . . . , He threatened to. . . , He promised to . . . , He agreed to . . .

Sample of reported speech: Threat.

He threatened to hit him.

She promised to buy pizza for dinner.

He agreed to buy it.

He refused to work.
